Hiking & Nature Walks

The breathtaking scenery itself justifies recreation and guests are encouraged to take advantage of the several hiking and walking trails that are located nearby Beaver Dam Lodge. Many points of interest are accessible for the casual or seasoned walker. Although formal trails do not exist, paths carved out by past travelers are easy to follow. Trips to the Virgin River are easily accomplished in under a mile.

For the more seasoned hiker, a climb up to Mount Bangs, the highest spot in the Virgin Mountains, can be a great challenge. Steep inclines make for a strenuous, all-day hike to the top.

Geocaching

What is Geocaching? It's a real-world treasure hunt that's happening right now, all around you! Use GPS coordinates to find caches other people have left. of "treasure" and logbooks where you can enter your name to let other people know, "Hey, I was here, too!"

Bring a pen, because Historic Beaver Dam Lodge and Golf Resort is centrally located among many Geocache sites. Feel free to bring some treasure, too and leave your own Geocache for someone else to find.

Lake Mead

Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the United States. It is located on the Colorado River about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, in the states of Nevada and Arizona. Lake Mead offers many types of recreation to locals and visitors. Boating is the most popular. Additional activities include fishing, water skiing, swimming and sunbathing.

On your way, make sure to stop at the Lost City Museum in Moapa and visit the Hoover Dam.

National Parks

Valley of Fire State Park is located south of Mesquite, Nevada and is a place you will want to spend several hours. This scenic area , true to its name, features red sandstone formations and strange shapes formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago.

Zion Canyon National Parknearby in Utah offers visitors a view of massive 2000 feet high cliffs that are separated by narrow hiking trails and river beds.

Grand Canyon National Park Northern Rim, is a "Must Do," for those who want a complete vacation. The North Rim features the majestic virgin pine forests of the Kaibab Plateau and viewpoints that are 1200 feet higher than those of the South Rim.

Nearby Cities

Mesquite, NV is just 11 minutes from the Beaver Dam Lodge. Complete with championship golf courses, slot machines and table games, Mesquite offers some of the "big city" thrills of Vegas, in just a short jaunt from your tranquil escape. You will want to try Kathrine's for dinner, located inside the Casablanca hotel and Casino, or some of the more casual fare at the Virgin River Hotel & Casino.

Las Vegas, NV, do we really need we say more? Only 90 short miles from the Beaver Dam Lodge, is fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. With notice, we can arrange transportation in either a private shuttle, car or limousine.

St. George, UT is the opposite direction from Mesquite & Las Vegas, but certainly worth a visit. It has a bounty of things to do for those who enjoy the combination of nature and city life. There are many parks, monuments, shopping, fantastic places to eat, and more. If you head that direction, take a slight detour of only about 15 minutes, to the Center For the Arts at Kayenta. You'll be glad you did!
